During the 2025 Christmas Holidays, Public Mobility in Indonesia Increased

 


Tangerang, 24 December 2025 - Entering the Christmas holiday on December 25, 2025, public mobility in several regions of Indonesia has increased, with a surge in vehicle traffic, public transportation passengers, and tourism activities recorded since the beginning of the week, as residents take advantage of the holiday period to return home and travel by land, sea, and air.

Ahead of the peak Christmas holiday season, PT Jasa Marga recorded approximately 201,257 vehicles leaving the Greater Jakarta area on D-1, namely December 24–25, 2025, a figure that increased by approximately 44.1 percent from normal conditions, indicating high public mobility ahead of the Christmas celebrations. Overall, from D-7 to D-1 (December 18–25), 1,195,806 vehicles were recorded leaving Greater Jakarta, an increase of 16.43 percent from the normal period.

Based on monitoring data from the Jakarta Transportation Agency, passenger activity at seven intercity and interprovincial terminals reached 11,516 people on December 25, 2025, consisting of 4,618 arriving passengers and 6,898 departing passengers, a 78.82 percent increase compared to normal days, although a slight decrease compared to the previous Christmas period. Meanwhile, the volume of vehicles entering and leaving Jakarta from four main toll gates reached around 2.1 million units on Christmas Day (December 25).

The government and security forces have prepared various anticipatory measures, including traffic management and security at strategic points during the holiday period, to ensure the safety and smooth flow of people and goods.
