Study or Work? Which One Should be Prioritized?

Tangerang, 03 July 2025 - After completing high school or vocational school, many young people in Indonesia feel confused about choosing between continuing their higher education or immediately looking for a job. This decision is often complicated because it is related to the future. Higher education is considered a means to get a degree and better job opportunities. However, going straight to work also provides concrete experience and quick income. This choice becomes more complex when the family's economic situation is a major factor.

In my opinion, the choice between continuing education or starting a job is not the same for everyone. Everyone has different situations, needs, and life goals. For those who have the financial ability and interest in academics, going to college can be an important capital for the future. Higher education provides a broader perspective, builds connections, and increases opportunities to get a better job.

However, beginning a career after completing school is also a good option. Numerous accomplished individuals commenced their journeys from entry-level positions, later advancing their studies while employed or pursuing self-directed learning. Gaining work experience early on can foster independence, accountability, and hands-on abilities that are not always acquired through higher education. Particularly in today's digital age, practical skills often outweigh the importance of a degree.

The key factor, in my view, is to establish an enduring objective. Are we aiming to enter a specific profession that necessitates a degree? Or do we lean towards entrepreneurship, freelancing, or the creative sector that can be pursued with knowledge and experience? There is no better or worse choice for us. The distinction lies in our dedication and persistence in following through with our decision.

Students with Learning Difficulties Get Less Attention from Teachers

Tangerang, 11 May 2025 - Students feel left behind and lose interest in studying when teachers don’t respond to their difficulties. In many schools, the issue of students with learning difficulties not receiving enough attention persists. Students who are confident and proficient in the course are given greater attention by teachers, while others who are less competent are ignored. "I think students who are shy or unsure are often neglected," Fathir said. He also said that many teachers assume that all students can follow the lesson without really checking each individual's understanding. "If someone doesn't understand grammar or vocabulary, often the teacher doesn't realize it or doesn't have time to check," he continued. The student also gave a specific example from an English class experience. A friend asked for assistance after struggling to understand a reading, but all they received was the directive to reread it without further explanation....
